Exhibitor Q&A: Steve Holmes, Sales Director UK & Ireland at BluJay

Can you please share a little bit about yourself with our visitors?

While with BluJay my focus is on Supply Chain Software my background is in delivering Managed 4PL Logistics Solutions. This enables me to work with clients to help them understand and identify the value that supply chain software can bring organisations and help them calculate a realistic return on investment. For me, the software remains a tool and it’s how it’s applied, dovetailed into good business processes that leads to efficiency and cost benefits.

Can you please tell us why you chose to exhibit at IntraLogisteX 2020.

We are looking to meet progressive organisations who are want to differentiate their businesses through the development of their end-to-end supply chains. The wide range of solutions and past visitor information from IntraLogisteX look as though the event will attract people looking for new ideas and ways to solve problems.

What will you be sharing with visitors at the exhibition?

The focus for our presence will be our Transport Management Systems Platforms. BluJay provides three end-to-end integrated environments to support; Shippers, Logistics Service Providers and the Freight Forwarding community. The current areas of interest from our clients include; last mile delivery, complex real time planning and routing solutions, customs declarations, integrated parcel and pallet networks, data capture at the delivery point improved customer engagement and business intelligence.

What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing the industry at the moment?

Brexit is still big because many organisations have continued to avoid considering what their future requirements will be. I also think, from a personal perspective, legacy systems are a ticking time bomb. Businesses built on AS400, for example, will continue but the lack of agility and flexibility will hinder their ability to adapt to challenges. Change is inevitable and I think for these organisations now is the time. Otherwise the current development of cloud based platforms is so fast the risk is being left behind.
